Pakistan’s PIA suspends flights to Saidu Sharif airport

PIA – Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad Quaid-e-Azam Int’l) has suspended flights between Islamabad Quaid-e-Azam Int’l and Saidu Sharif due to lack of demand, a spokesperson for the airline company.

This comes just four months after the national carrier resumed flights to Saidu Sharif on March 26 after an absence of 17 years. It had announced bi-weekly flights from Lahore Int’l and Islamabad respectively, but all flights to Saidu Sharif are now blocked on the airline’s website, according to ch-aviation.

The airport is located near the Swat River and between the villages of Dherai and Kanju in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in the northwest region of the country along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Saidu Sharif has an asphalt track, 05/23, measuring 1750 meters.

PIA Pakistan to issue 127 million sukuk this month

Pakistan’s PIA to replace B777s with A320s

PIA – Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad Quaid-e-Azam Int’l) plans to dry lease four A320-200s by the end of 2021, with the first two replacing two B777s in the carrier’s fleet, said sources at The Express Daily Tribune.

Tender documents from early 2021 seen by ch-aviation indicate that the aircraft will be the msn 7784 and 7792, both built in 2017 and formerly operated by Interjet.
