Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia holds a meeting with the Ministry of Commerce on the launch of a multimodal logistics center

Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday held a meeting with officials from his ministry and the Ministry of Commerce on the launch of multimodal logistics hubs in India. On Tuesday, he said on Twitter that in addition to the necessary infrastructure, it was equally important to make our freight transport processes transparent and user-friendly.

He said he chaired a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Department of Commerce on the way forward to launch multimodal logistics hubs in India.

The Commerce Department comes under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

“It was suggested to institutionalize a project management group with stakeholders spanning relevant ministries and industries to identify and address current challenges,” Scindia said.

The government had on December 30, 2020 approved a Multimodal Transport and Logistics Hub (MMTH) in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh with a view to making India a strong player in the global value chain.
